Kathryn and Russell’s love story comes to life at Camp Hideaway

“You are the beginning, the end, and the in-between of the best time of my life.” – Kathryn

Russell and Kathryn first connected on Instagram before meeting in person for a blind date set up by Kathryn’s friend. They quickly hit it off and found themselves sending long messages and getting to know each other through texting. When they finally met, it was more of a relief than an introduction as they already had a strong connection. Thanks to COVID, they got to spend more time talking and getting to know each other. It only strengthened their relationship. They discovered they had similar thoughts and would even finish each other’s sentences, making their bond even stronger. Their connection was so strong that they had their own unique gesture: tapping their noses, to indicate they were thinking the same thing.

The Proposal

Russell proposed to Kathryn on the same day, May 22nd, as the day they officially became a couple. He was initially unsure of how to propose. However, he found out that the puppies they were getting were available for pick-up on the same day! So, he planned around this event. Russell tricked Kathryn by making her think they would pick up the puppy (Luna) the following Thursday. What she didn’t know is that Russell had his sister bring her to the proposal instead.

On the day of the proposal, they heard a dog crying. They searched for it and found Luna in a basket in a gazebo. As Kathryn tried to process everything, Russell got down on one knee and proposed. Through happy tears, she said yes.

“I just can’t wait to look back on this day and just be able to know how special it was to have our family, our friends, and everybody around us, and how special you are to me that I get to spend every single day with you forever.” – Russell
