Made to outlive the day.
The Allan House brings historic Victorian charm, century-old live oaks, and an intimate courtyard together in the heart of downtown Austin for an elevated Texas wedding day.
THE ALLAN HOUSE, THROUGH OUR LENS
The Allan House is a true staple in downtown Austin, blending nineteenth-century Victorian architecture with an outdoor courtyard that feels entirely tucked away from the rest of the city.
The Allan House brings an authenticity and charm that never gets old.
We’ve been filming weddings at The Allan House for years, and every single time we pull up to San Antonio Street, we are reminded of why this place is such a staple. From the century-old oak trees and Victorian parlor rooms to the stone courtyard draped in string lights, it offers a setting that feels completely secluded right in the heart of the city.
The team behind The Allan House runs the property with incredible professionalism and zero fuss. From venue directors to the on-site coordinators managing logistics, they handle venue access, coordinate vendor load-ins down to the minute, and keep the grounds immaculate so everything moves forward without a single hitch.
Whether they are staging the open-air courtyard in the spring or setting up the clear-span tent for winter receptions, their execution is always spot-on.
We treat them less like a venue and more like long-time friends.
If The Allan House is on your list, we would tell you to go experience the property for yourself whether or not you ever call us.

through the eyes of PhotoHouse Films
The Allan House terrace and courtyard creates a natural frame of century-old live oaks and lush greenery, providing soft, ambient shade that simplifies lighting for ceremonies and outdoor dinners. Its terraced limestone steps and brick pavers give every angle clear depth and structure, while the wraparound verandas offer an elevated vantage point to capture wide, cinematic shots of the entire celebration below.
Inside The Allan House, a Victorian craftsmanship gives us clean interior symmetry, warm original hardwoods, and soaring high ceilings that preserve a sense of scale. Tall sash windows diffuse harsh sun into soft, flattering directional daylight across the parlors and upstairs suites, eliminating unflattering shadows for detail shots and pre-ceremony prep. These long indoor sightlines and classic architectural frames let us shoot unobtrusively on prime lenses, capturing natural emotion and crisp textures with timeless editorial clarity.
The covered verandas offer a rare combination of elevated scale and controlled lighting. The deep overhang provides consistent open shade throughout the afternoon, protecting subjects from harsh overhead sun while bouncing clean, soft light across the porch. From a photographer's perspective, the long porch railings create natural leading lines for couples' portraits, and the high vantage point allows us to capture clean, unobtrusive wide shots of guests mingling in the courtyard below.
Spacious and light-filled, the upstairs suites are designed for effortless pre-ceremony coverage. Expansive historic windows fill the rooms with soft, multi-directional daylight that acts like a natural softbox, giving us smooth skin tones, true-to-life colors, and rich depth for detail shots. The generous floor space and neutral interior palette keep frames clean and uncluttered, making it easy to document candid prep moments, dress reveals, and quiet portraits before the day speeds up.

Two photographers on every collection. One camera can only ever be in one place, and the moment you will want back is rarely the one everybody was already pointed at.

One team, one timeline, one plan. Nobody meets for the first time at your first look, and your gallery and your film look like the same wedding — because they were.

A photograph holds what the day looked like. It cannot hold your father's voice breaking halfway through the toast, or the fifteen seconds before the doors opened when nobody was talking yet.
EXTRAORDINARY IMAGES, MADE
TO LAST
Get on a call with us and we will build the filming timeline for your day at The Allan House. When to do your first look so the indoors is still warm. How long portraits on the Veranda actually take once someone's family is involved. Where the toasts should sit in the Terrace and the Courtyard so they can be recorded properly rather than hopefully.
It is yours whether you hire us or not. Take it to whoever you end up booking — it will still be a better day.
